Banned in Vietnam

So it looks like our blog has been blocked in Vietnam after the Hanoi post. We are able to edit it, but we cannot see it, making it hard to make new posts (we usually need to fix stuff after composing the raw text).

We were not blocked after posting the last Thailand posts while in Hanoi. However, when we went ahead and posted the Hanoi post we could no longer view the blog. We took it down a few minutes later, but could not see the blog for another day. We were thinking maybe it was banned, since people in the U.S. could still see it. Last night, we could see the blog again, so we went ahead and posted the Hanoi post again. Well, wouldn't you know, we are again blocked! Looks like the "Great Firewall" of Vietnam has flagged something in our post and decided to censor us. They must not have liked the scathing comments I made about the rickshaw. Isn't censorship great?

As it turns out Facebook is also banned in Vietnam. The billionaire CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerburg, was actually here in Vietnam for vacation only a week before we arrived (even though they are banning his website):
Facebook CEO travels to Vietnam

I will find a way to circumvent the firewall so we can keep posting! It's a little more challenging since all we have is the iPad and can't install anything other than apps. Time to find a U.S. proxy server...
